Peek-a-Boo

Last night shortly after Mommy got home from work Harlan woke up (about 11 pm) He was in a really good mood and jsut wanted to hang out. We were snuggled on the couch under a blanket that I put over his head and started playing peekaboo with. I got the biggest gummy smile ever. He would pull the blanket back down over his head. Then he would try to eat the blanket until Mommy pulled it up and said "peekboo"

IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS GAME OF PEEK-A-BOO I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!

PLEASE DON'T JUDGE

BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. If I didn't love the little booger more than anything, I would think I was a terrible mother. I placed Harlan on the couch, surrounded him with pillows and went to the kitchen to make a bottle. Next thing I hear a thud and a scream and my poor baby boy was on the floor. He probably went head first too. Poor little man cried for 20 mins and we had to call Daddy at work and put him on speaker phone to calm him down.

WARNING TO ANYONE THAT WATCHES HARLAN: He can move!! He will not stay where you put him. It is not safe to leave him anywhere alone unless you deadbolt him in place. Seriously, you all are probably already are one step ahead of me and assure he is in a safe place before walking outta the room, but this is a warning just in case. I have a feeling there is some serious baby proofing happening in the very near future for us!!!

Isn't it great that kiddos don't hold grudges and love you just the same, even if you let them roll off of every piece of furniture you own!!

Slow Blogging week

This will probably be a pretty uneventful week here at Harlan's Home. Nothing tells a story better than a picture and Mommy is pretty sure she left her camera and Grandma and Grandpa Watts' house after the Christmas party. Speaking of the Christmas party, we all had a marvelous time. Harlan was a perfect gentleman around a ton a new people, and he didn't disappoint with all the smiles he so selflessly shared. He also found his new "bff" Will there, who is one month younger than Harlan. Harlan just thought he was better than sliced bread and couldn't wait to give him a great big hug to let him know. That boy is going to be sooo excited when his twin cousins get here. Who, by the way have the most beautiful names (that i wont post, that is Travis and Ana's joy to get to share with everyone) and the MOST GORGEOUS nursery ever. I am amazed how the room looks like a little girl's room and a little boy's room but matches perfectly. You can tell that there was a lot of hard work and love put into that room. Next time we decorate anything at our house, i think I am going to consult Ana and get her help!

Today, the little monkey is sure worn out. He also feels warm, so he could be running a low grade fever. He is currently taking his 3rd nap of the day, and we are usually lucky to get 2 naps in ALL DAY. I went ahead and gave him some Tylenol without checking his temp (who wants to bring their work home with them??) and also gooped a whole bunch of oragel on his gums. He is also pooping weird (like little amounts more frequently) which I have heard comes with teething. So once again, we wait to see if this is gonna get worse and we will have some teeth, or is he just having an under the weather sort of day?

In other news, Harlan has decided to take up choreograpy He has evented a new dance.
He must hear music in his head and then start move his shoulders and head side to side. He kinda reminds me of Stevie Wonder when he does it. He was showing it off this weekend and got good reviews. I will try to get it on video bc it is ADORABLE and then maybe we can come up with a name for it. All i can think is the Harlan Hustle and that sounds kinda stupid. So be on the look out for that hopefully next week when we are fully camera operating again.

Have a warm day!!!!!!!

Homemade Zuchnini

So Mommy branched out and tried to make her own baby food today. I don't think this will become a regular thing, but it was pretty simple. I just steamed the zucchini (never steamed anything before) and then pureed it with our stick blender. Harlan gave mixed reviews. I think it was the texture that got him. I didnt peel them bc Daddy informed me that alot of the nutrients are in the peel. See video below:

sorry the video is grainy its the best my camera will do in this lighting

Harlan also is sticking out his tongue a bunch. Its kinda his new thing. I have been trying to get a picture but no luck yet.

Mommy bought Harlan some bath toys. Just the squirt ones. Well if you squit it and it makes that squirty noise, he goes crazy. Flails all around. He is one crazy kid.

6 Month Stats

Well today was an interesting day at the doctor. Harlan was in one of the worst moods I have seen him in EVER. He was ok on my lap, but being weighed or put down on the table, caused lots of crying. Then there were the shots. Three of them. Poor guy. He is taking it well though, and seems better tonite than he did this morning. My guess is that his mouth was bothering him and the tylenol I gave him for the shots made his mouth feel better too.

6 month stats
he is 17 lbs 5 oz and 26 inches long. He is still in the 50th percentile for everything. so still perfectly proportional. He is right on with all his milestones and is absolutely perfect. (ok i added that last one)

I got a lecture about our walker but we have no stairs that are accessible and I feel comfortable using it, and i consider myself a little on the nutso side (in a good way) so the walker stays. heck that thing cost me a hundred bucks and i still say it was money well spent.

After his appt we went and visited Daddy at work. The timing was perfect, and we caught him taking a break with some coffee and pie!

We also got the ok to start stage 2 foods and some table food. I bought a good variety of stage 2 foods today but i didnt get anything with meat. i dont wanna go too fast. he did try some oatmeal with applesauce and bananas tonite and seemed to like it. As for table foods she said start with things that are similar un texture to baby food and start adding in new textures for him to experience. i am gonna do this slowly bc im scared of him choking. i told here that and she said it was ok but she didnt see him with that gerber puff. she said hold off on the puffs for another month or so then try again. so thats that.

This is Harlan in on of his cute coats. It has ears!! Too cute. It may get retired though bc 2 different people called him a girl today.

His doctor visit wore him out. This is in the car after the doctor,

I found a rug today at Walmart that works great. Harlan seems to love it already!

LET IT SNOW!!!!!

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning. It was very pretty. A small dusitng of snow is just perfect to bring the holiday mood to our house. We don't need anymore than this at one time!!

Warning : TANGENT
I noticed this morning that one of Harlan's sleeper pajama's has the cutest buttons on the outside as decoration. Don't get me wrong, it is very adorable. But it is the WORST idea ever. What if my baby that grabs and plays with everything were to get ahold of that button one time when he wakes in the middle of the night and pulls it off, and then sticks it in his mouth (something else he does with anything) HEllO to baby choking to death in the middle of the night. Pretty scary scenario in my mind. I actually passed up the most adorable Thanksgiving romper bc it had buttons sown on for decoration. This probably sounds crazy I know, but it my mind a cute outfit is not worth the choking hazard. At least the buttons can be easily removed and a cute, warm, fuzzy sleeper does not have to be sacrificed.

~Rant Over

We are spending the day doing laundry and watching the colts game. (Which looks good at half time.) Our goal in the next couple of weeks is to find a rug for our livng room. Our floor is hard and cold. Harlan needs the opportunity to get down there and "work out" in order to crawl eventually and the blankets trip him up. I also want something a little softer, with more cushion bc he does take the occasional topple while sitting. Currently, we surround him with pillows when he is sitting and playing. I also looked into foam mats, but we are now leaning toward a rug of some sort. We will keep you updated. (exciting stuff i know haha)

Tomorrow is Harlan's 6 month well baby checkup with immunizations. Anyone wanna take a shot at his current weight. If you remember he was 15 lbs 4 oz at 4 months and he is a chunker! Check back this week to see if your guess was close!!!
