Hey Harlan, Someone Forgot to Tell You.........

You are supposed to be sick. Harlan was diagnosed with bilateral ear infections and possible strep throat yesterday. He is on his very first antibiotic (amoxicillin) and also was prescribed some drops for his ears that will numb them and help with the pain. We are also giving him tylenol and motrin and lots of love. He has a wonderful day today with only some brief moments of fussiness, usually about the time his next dose of tylenol or motrin was due. Mommy had a blast today playing peekabo on the bed with little man and playing with him outside. Here are some pictures from the day

Getting ready to go outside. We were trying out the sandals that Tia Ana and Tio Travis brought Harlan from Brazil. They are still a bit too big, but they were very entertaining from him to play with.

I got it off my foot Mommy. Can I play with it now?

Haha, got the other one off too!

I am sooo cute and I know it

This is where Harlan hangs out while Mommy showers

Harlan is eating his greens just like his shirt says

He is also eating his purples!
This is the new juice that Harlan is drinking. He seems to like it better than just regular fruit juice.

I was helping him drink it out of a regular big boy cup when he decided he could take the cup and give himself a big ole drink. Unfortunately, he dumped the whole cup on him. He was sad his juice was all gone

Licking it off his fingers sure tasted good. And are you not just loving the alalfa look he has going on here! haha guess we need to find some baby shampoo that prevents flyaways!

Play time. Look at how he is standing on a toy to reach further into the toybox. My boy is a genius!

Outside playtime. He is chewing on a mesh feeder that you can out food in so a baby wont choke. I found that putting ice in it, helps with teething pain and it seemed to feel good on his throat today too. of course he is chewing on the wrong end, what a rebel

Harlan is also saying a new word. When he is upset or when you are holding him or not allowing him to do what he wants he has been saying "nah, nah, nah" I am convinced he is saying no, no. it is at the appropriate time when it seems like he would want to being saying no. And I know he hears the word plenty enough to begin imitating it. Mama has to be next right???

Another Busy Day

With picture highlights

This picture is actually from yesterday, but it is my two sweet guys napping. This is one of the reasons, I picked this guy to share my life with.

Harlan channeling his inner train enginner. Doesn't he look super-adorable!

Harlan has gotten pretty good at sharing lately. He always tries to hand over what he has to see what you will do with it, then ultimately takes it back. It is all good til he tries to shove the nipple of his bottle in my mouth. Formula isnt exactly my chioce of beverage.

We went to our old house today to meet with the realtor who will be listing our house. The house looks spiffy. Everyone who helped out did a wonderful job and we are extemely thankful for the help. The realtor was super impressed too!
Harlan at the window where he had been watching a couple of birds playing in the rain

Look how clean and open the place looks!

Daddy looking into the kitchen from the interior window, looking tired from his long day at work.

After we got home (with a small stop at target) we had a little number and letter lesson in the tub and tried out some new cherry foam soap. Harlan ate the soap, and tried to eat the letters as well

We tried spelling Harlans name but had to substitute a "4" for an "A" but you get the picture

yum, nothing like foamy cherry letters for dessert

what a day!

A day at home

This is a video of Harlan's "remote car" He just about pushes anything around the floor he can. Juat a tip, if you get easy motion sickness dont watch. At the end of the video we are playing a game where he watches my feet move around. It cracks him up every time. And yeah...he has the best laugh EVER!!!!

In other news we have decided Harlan is going to have an Elmo/Sesame Street Babies first birthday party. Mommy is even going to try to make Harlan's cake with a special cake pan. I am excited about it and with Daddy's expert help I am feeling like it could turn out great. His party is scheduled for May 30th and we are really looking forward to it.

There are some definite things that I am looking forward too as Harlan turns one

*Forward facing carseat. This still freaks me out a little thanks to some crash test video on youtube and the force of impact on a little neck, but i am feeling better and better about it everyday and looking forward to seeing his cute face in the rearview mirror.

* Switiching from formula to milk. I am excited to see the look on his face as he tries milk for the first time. I thought about letting him have a few sips early, but i think that is one of those things that we will do special on his birthday (partly bc i like skim milk and i dont want whole milk to just sit in our fridge and partly bc i feel like he is trying all kinda new things lately and sometimes i have to remind myself that he is still a baby and little, and that is such a big boy thing)It will be like a rite of passage thing.

* I am really looking forward to him walking. I dont think it will change much bc he can already go anywhere he wants (video is proof) and though he may go faster, hopefully he will go with less falls and bumps of heads on floor (umm yeah who am i kidding...right??)

* He has to learn to say "mama" sometime. Maybe being one will be some kind of magic for his verbal skills and he will quit calling me "dada"

Sunshine and Summertime

OK so not quite summertime yet, but the weather was undeniably beautiful today and Harlan and Mommy took advantage and spent sometime outside playing. Harlan isnt a huge fan of the grass at all. In fact, if you sit him in the grass he will not move or touch the grass at all. He loves crawling on the concrete though, and didnt even slow down when he scratched the top of his foot (nothing serious there, a quick fix with neosporin and socks) Today made me definitely look forward to the upcoming summer and the fun that is awaiting.

Good bye Aline!!

I am catching up with some pictures here. Then the last batch of pictures are from our farewell dinner with Aline this evening. Aline is Tia Ana's niece who has been visiting from Brazil since October. We know she is looking forward to going home and seeing her family but we will miss her greatly. This was also Alex and Alana's first trip out to a restaurant. It went great. They are very well behaved babies. Harlan modeled some appropriate behavior in the restaurant by screaming at everyone from his end of the table. He wanted to make sure he was heard by everyone :) Enjoy the pictures!

Harlan playing nicely on the floor.

Daddy blowing bubbles for Harlan before bed one night.

Harlan playing in his new room, with Mommys headband on. He is a fashion statement!

All squeaky clean after bath time

Harlan climbed in his closet the other night to play with his carseat. He is fascinated with the straps!
We werent sure is he was trying to tell us that this is where he was gonna sleep that night, but he looked comfy (and mommy and daddy did not help Harlan in or out of this seat, he is a MONKEY!)
Tia Ana with cousin Alex, awake and alert
Harlans faux-hawk (there may have been some hair spray involved, but i was sworn to secrecy by little man)
Harlan using proper manners and keeping his elbows off the table at Alines farewell dinner
Tio Travis and Alex at dinner
Harlan giving Tia Ana lots of kisses
Grandpa with Alana
Goodbye kisses for Aline. Harlan will miss her tons!!
Who gave him the creamer???
Can i have some coffee with this cream??

Meeting The Bunny

Today after a sweet visit with the twinfants (aka Alex and Alana, who are growing so well and cuter by the day!), our family made the oh so much longer trip to greenwood this afternoon. We took Harlan to meet the Easter Bunny and to get his picture taken with him. (I think it is a him, he had a blue bow) Harlan didn't cry but he wasn't thrilled either. He was really just very confused. We didnt get the huge smile we got with Santa, but we still got a cute picture. (Now this is a picture of a picture so it isnt perfect, but still cute)

I dont know if his arm is up for protection or for balance, but the look on his face is sure not one of glee and excitement.

Tomorrow will be Harlans first easter. I made him up a little easter basket with little toys, and a baby's first easter bib. Here is a picture of what the easter bunny left for him at our house.

We also made a stop at the toy store to price the toy that I wanted to get Harlan for his birthday. We actually found that they were having a special offer on the toy so we went ahead and got it and it is "hiding" in his closet til his birthday. We got him the laugh and learn kitchen. You can check it out here http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=detail&pcat=bulnl&pid=41426
I think he will enjoy all the differet components of the toy. shhhh, this is a suprise!!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
