NEW YEARS RESOLUTION

We gotta get back on some kind of schedule around here. The last 2 mornings Harlan has had his first bottles at 9 am and then goes back to sleep til 11 or noon. (of course Mommy goes back to bed with him) This in turn is leading to bedtimes between 10 and midnight. Harlan and Mommy just woke from a 2 hour nap this evening and we woke up at 6:45, so i am sure this will be a late night. Sorry grandma judy for tomorrow night, but maybe he will be up and ready to party for new years eve with you! I am hoping that next week once Mommy goes back to her normal schedule we can get back on schedule here.

In other news Harlan had mac and cheese today (stage 2 baby food) and couldnt open his mouth for it quick enough. He lost interest about 1/2 jar in, but he is doing better eating new foods in general. I am hoping to purchase puffs again next week and see where we are. We also tried the yogurt melts. We had to break them down into pieces but he seemed to like them. I thought he would want to eat all kinda of new foods, but he has set the pace slower than i thought it would go, but i am going with it. It could be in part too that I am thinking his mouth is bothersome to him. I swear I feel a sharp point under his gum, Daddy wasnt sure, so we wait some more.

Poor Libby! She finally agreed to change a smelly diaper and this is what Harlan has to say about it. You can't keep that kid on his back at all when you are changing him. Sometimes he can de distracted with somthing to hold and look at and sometimes not. She has diaper rash cream on her finger and was quite upset when she learned that the cream just didnt go on the outside butt cheeks. You gotta put it where he is red. She told me that she felt sorry for me for having to put that cream on him all the time. haha she says the funniest things sometimes.

A well rested baby is a cute baby!!!

This is where I left Harlan when I stepped outta the room earlier today.

This is where I found him. i think he wanted to help clean up! I am certain he rolled and scooted his way over here. No crawling yet but he can grab onto you and pull up to his feet in certain situations (like he can do it on our bed or push up if you are holding him) so he may walk first. who knows???

cathching up

its been a busy week for everyone, and i had a lot of good harlan stuff to share. instead of one big long post i split it up and did 3, so make sure you scroll down and check out harlan's adventures from the last week.

ENJOY!

Bubble Bath

Tonite Daddy and I shared bathtime duty together. We used a baby vapor bubble bath to help with the little bit of stuffiness and sneezing Harlan has been experiencing. He tried to eat the bubbles which made Daddy hop up to get the camera. and if daddy goes and gets the camera you know the pictures will be good. We started which just eating the bubbles pictures but then got some interesting facial expressions and poses from our little model.

Girl's Day In + Baby

We haven't had the chance to get together with my family for Christmas quite yet, we all work different schedules. but my mom and two sisters did spend the night friday night after babysitting for us that day. and today we had a girl's day in. you know, jammies, chick flicks, burnt kettle corn, and of course the wii. It was nice to hang out and be with my mom and sisters. it was a great way to unwind after a loong week of work and celebration. Harlan was in attendance even though he is a boy, i dont think he minded. daddy was home too, but got the chance to go to lunch with family, but came home and made tacos for us for dinner. (did I mention that I have the best husband ever!!!) It was nice and warm today too (i heard it hit 60) and we were able to open some windows and enjoy the weather before the storms hit. Harlan also hung out in his diaper which is how i think he would like to be all the time.

TOOTHWATCH 2008/2009 - We having something going on. Harlan is a fussy muss (daddy calls him grumpy mcgrumpster) and there are definite lumps (1 and i kinda feel a second one) where he bottom front teeth would be. he chews on everything (although his drooling is quite a bit less than it was say a month or so ago) but i am now almost certain these teeth are not far off. I have a little mesh thingy that food can go in and the baby can gnaw on it but it prevents choking (cant remember the name off the top of my head) anyway, tonight after a fussy period and oragel, i put an ice cube in that thing and put it in his mouth. what a difference!! it must have felt great on his gums because we went through 3 ice cubes before he decided he was more interested in toys. Hopefully this wont get worse before it gets better. I dont want him to be aching. Keep our teething little man in your thoughts!

Yum Sweet Potatoes

Playing in nothing but the ole diaper.

****CHRISTMAS EVE******

We had an absolute wonderful Christmas eve celebration with Justin's family. It was warm and cozy and laid back and merry. Harlan even was nice enough to nap while we all sat down to eat, so we could visit and relax at dinner. The highlight was teaching everyone the game of werewolf. It was sooooo much fun. Of course, I learned that trying to put pjs on a baby with your eyes closed, leads to both legs in one pant leg, but that is a story for another time. Here are some pictures from our day:

Harlan, Ana, Travis and Aline. (Justin and I later realized we didnt get a picture of the two of us with the baby and looking through our pics we dont have alot of the three of us, so that will be on my new years resolution list)

Unwrapping the first gift on Christmas Eve

Harlan on his new ride from Tio Travis and Tia Ana. It pretty cool and makes tons of noise. It wont be too long before he is all over the house on it, i'm sure.

Harlan trying out his walker in the cutest new shoes that Tio and Tia got for him (travis and ana). they were big on him but surprisingly he moved well. i think they will fit great about the time he starts walking.

Taking a break from the festivities

Daddy multitasking. (eating, playing werewolf and entertaining a tired baby)

Harlan and grandma in front of the Christmas tree (i'm not sure what they were doing here but it made for a cute picture)

This is the next morning, Grandpa and Grandma got up and gave Harlan his morning bottle and then they all took a nap

Aunt Libby is a Rockstar!

Libs stayed with is tonight while my mom was at work. We had a good night. We joined forces to give Harlan a bath and we used the vapor bath stuff to try to help with his stuffiness (that wont suck out!) We noticed on the bottle (like all baby stuff) that it is "no more tears." We got in the discussion is it really no more tears and what makes it that way. So LIbby, being the brave 11 year old she is....tested the soap and found that it was indeed :no more tears." Harlan will forever thank her for that!

Holiday Preparations

This weekend/week has been pretty busy for us. We have had holiday celebrations and
gone holiday shopping. And christmas is still a few days away. There is still presents to be wrapped and Aunt Libby is coming over tonite to help me make a super secret treat to take to christmas eve.

After some thinking about how we wanted to celebrate Harlan's very first Christmas, Justin and I picked out one gift from the both of us. What is it??? You will have to wait til Christmas to find out. We have also decided to give Harlan a new pair of pj's every Christmas Eve that he can wear to bed that night. I have heard from other people that have done this that it was special to them as kids or that their kids really love it, so I am hoping it will be just as special to our little guy. In the future I am sure he will have lots more input in what kind of pjs he wants, but i got to do all the picking this year and I am in love with the pjs I found at Target over the weekend. I will tell you they involove sock monkeys and a matching robe. I am sure the pictures will be adorable!!

After this weekend I also decided to slow down on any table food Harlan is getting and just focus on baby food textures for now. My dad and step mom were here yesterday and we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. I tried to give him some applesauce and tiny pieces of mac n cheese. I ended up really upsetting him and making him cry. He just wasnt interested in it and since he is jsut about 7 months old, I dont feel like it is something I have to push now. We will try again in another few weeks and see how he does. I am learning that I dont want him to grow up too fast, we can wait.

In other news, Harlan was found on all fours today rocking. He is officially a scooter and can scoot backward and he can kinda inch/army crawl forward. The closer he gets to crawling the more I kinda dont want him too, who knows what kinda trouble he is gonna stir up once he can take off. I wish I could stop time right here. He is funny and fun to be around and I dont have to tell him no yet. I am gonna blink and he is gonna be walking and talking i know.

Harlan opening up gifts with Grandpa (my dad)

I love this picture with the tongue sticking out. The tongue comes out alot these days.

Harlan tackles it. This particular toy is supposed to encourage crawling but it rolls away and Harlan find another closer toy. Haha My kid's not stupid

Christmas Shopping

These are pictures taken on a recent christmas shopping expedition.

I found this shirt at CVS. It says "I believe in Santa" He looked too cute in it and was really in the Christmas spirit.

What do you think he is thinking here????

Tuckered out little guy

"Hmm how many calories are in this?"

Harlan trying to crawl. His butt says caboose! Another cute outfit from Daddy.

Christmas Party Pictures and more

Harlan and Will (a friend's baby that is a little younger than Harlan) with Travis, Ana, and Aline. Is this a glimpse into the future??

Best buddies given high five!

My baby sister Liberty. When did she grow up?? She is such a beautiful young woman now!

Granpa and Grandma Watts with Harlan and Will. I have no idea what Harlan is doing here. The outfit is a santa costume from Daddy.

Hanging out with the two coolest guys at the party!
