"You stole my heart"

Who is this beautiful lady holding Harlan?? It is a very talented jazz singer named Amy Baker. She was playing music at the restuarant where we went to celebrate Grannie's birthday. When she started singing, little man became very quiet and mesmerized. He clapped for her loudly at the end of songs and blew her kisses during her songs. She also seemed to be taken with Harlan. She sang to him and said he stole her heart. We also found out that she has a connection to Indiana and lived here while her father was a coach at IU. We will forgive her for that, because it is obvious that Harlan was quite taken with her! I went to her website after we returned home and Harlan began blowing kisses to the computer screen, seems it was not just a one night stand! I think she is giving Carrie Underwood a run for her money!

IN-N-OUT Burger

Daddys Favorite! He has talked about it non stop since we ate there. It is a fast food place on the West Coast and even i have to say it was super delicious. Harlan even found something there that he found quite enjoyable....

On our way to IN-N-OUT

Testing out the straw paper...better than in Indiana!

They even handed out fun stickers!

OH NO. Little man isnt enjoying the experience as much as we had hoped.

Grannie looking a little upset by little man's lack of enthusiasm

Grannie talks it over with Daddy

A milkshake!! that maked it all better

Now that was a great IN-N-OUT trip~!

Leaving on a jet plane!

We had an absolutely amazing time in California over the last few days! I have tons of pictures, videos and experiences to share and rather than overwhelm you with the whole trip in one post i will spread in out over the next few days. I will start right at the begininng. As most of you know, i was more than a little anxious about taking little man on an airplane. I just didnt think he was quite at the point where he would understand that on the plane it was appropriate to sit and play quiet games with Mommy and Daddy. I have learned yet again, that I should really give this amazing child way more credit than I did. He was fabulous, and really the flying with him was quite enjoyable! He really seemed to enjoy landing and taking off from San Jose. There when we departed and boarded the plane, we actually walked down steps onto the tarmac then through a tunnel to the door. Nothing like getting to see the outside of the plane up close and personal!

Leaving at 2AM Our journey begins :)

Anytime is the right time for ELMO

Chillin with mickey on the plane

Magna Doodle was a hit!

So were the window shades:) He is looking out over the mountians in california! They were breathtaking

Daddy time

Chapstick is always a great distractor!

The flights home were equally enjoyable! Harlan was able to get some shut eye in, and we lucked out and scored the ONLY empty seat on a very full flight for little man! It made it alot nicer that he had his own space to claim and play in. Although he did end up asleep on Mommy, but trust me i didnt mind. It has been a long time since little man curled up on my lap and fell asleep. Nope didnt mind it al all!
They dont give out wings to little fliers anymore, but we were able to purchase him his own little plane, a souvenir for his first ever plane trip.

taking this vacation thing very seriously

More fun on the plane

Big suprise, he was playing with the buckles!

Harlan and Mommy. Poor guy was wiped. He was asleep minutes after take off

On our last flight home. In his jammies and making himself at home!

Yay Harlan

*Wanted to get this posted quickly, before it gets lost in the california excitement!

Santa brought Harlan a potty chair for christmas. It is a soccer ball and when you "flush" it, it goes "YAY!!" and cheers. He loves it and we have been letting him sit on it before bath every night. It has become such a routine that he actually now pulls at his clothes saying "P! P!" while I am running his bath. He sits there a minute, then usually hops up and babbles something. He usually does this 3-4 times, then its bath time. Tonight he seemed a little more excited about the potty, but we also moved up bedtime a bit, in prep for our early flight, so I didnt give much thought to it. Well to my AMAZEMENT, Harlan PEED IN HIS POTTY!!!! He was pretty proud of himself too. Now trust me, this kid is nowhere near the point to where we plan on really jumping on the potty training wagon. But it is still pretty cool that he "got it" and was able to go in the potty.

So proud of my darling boy!!

Looking good

Little man had his second haircut today. Just in time to look spiffy before we head out to see Grannie. He really didnt like sitting in the chair or wearing the apron at first but then he behaved fabulously and the result is great.

Showing off the new 'do

shot from the back

Not feeling this trapped in feeling at all. In fact, this was the look on his face pretty much through the whole haircut and only smiled when they offered him a lollipop before we left :)
