Laundry Soap

After our recent laundry soap escapade....

Harlan and I decided to venture into making our own laundry soap today. First of all it's cheap. It was (kinda) fun to make and I have heard that it makes your clothes smell wonderful. So we kinda felt like we had nothing to lose.
We gathered our ingredients and gave it a go.

The first step was grating the bar of Fels-Naptha soap into the hot water. This was the hardest part and only because it took forver. (oh and also because i happened to grate the end of my finger which was really painful!)

Check out my happy little helper! He had a blast hanging out with Mommy and "cooking laundry soap"

Nothing like a kid in a bucket to speed the process along!

Entertrainment Junction

The week of Christmas, we had a playdate with some really fun friends. Robyn and her beautiful children, Kyle and Lyla, met us in Cincinnati at Entertrainment Junction. We had a fabulous time exploring the model trains, searching for the hidden Santa Claus statues, and meeting Santa himself! My personal favorite was the live telling of A Christmas Carol, which was very funny!

Unfortunately, Mommy dropped her camera while we were there and the flash stopped working. So not very many of the pictures that I took that day turned out well. We are now in the process of looking for a new camera that isnt too expensive but that takes nice pictures. We have it narrowed down and hopefully can make a decision soon. We have lots of pictures to be taking in the next few weeks!

I will share a few of the pictures from the day, they just are kinda dark.

This is one of my favorites. These kids were a joy to be around and made the day very special. Harlan really looked up to Kyle, who has a sense of humor like none other!

This is my favorite picture of the day. I love the brother/sister love here and Harlan's smile is pure joy!

Here is a picture that needed a flash! Kyle played Tiny Tim in the live A Christmas Carol show. He was a natural!

We really cant wait to have another playdate soon with them!

We are back!

Its been a super long time since we posted. We apologize for that. We have been busy little bees and have let some things slide. But after spending some time today looking through the blog I realize that I will totally want to look back on these memories. I have slacked on taking pictures too, but realize that these will be the memories I will have when little man is grown and gone (sniff, sniff) So i am firing back up the blog and setting a goal of one post a week. (and hope to include pictures but the flash on my camera is currently not working)

I do have a few pictures of Santa and Harlan (from the 2 different times he saw him this year) Enjoy!

Ok so these movies may be boring and super long to anyone else, but i will cherish them. There will come a day when he is no longer this two year old that makes conversation about butterflies and sings his own songs. There are some great moments in these!

This first video is some signing, some talking and a whole lot of cute. Aunt Libby taught him the Lady Gaga song!

This is just harlan playing and singing. He is constantly signing while he is playing. He is singing and playing as i sit here and type this!

This last one is just a conversation with little man. He was just caught on the fact that the butterfly ran away.

Our backyard

Our backyard is a wonderful place to hang out and explore. Harlan and I took advantage of our beautiful weather this weekend to spend some time outside. Mommy is slowly adjusting to living in the country and even not minding the bugs QUITE so much.

Where's the sand??? too many toys mama!

Working hard with the wheelbarrow!

He got really brave here and explored way far from where Mommy was sitting. Can u see him down there??

Boys will be boys

Dirt and sticks...what are little boys made of??

Playing ball

Mommy what are these (some kind of acorn type thing?)

I was just hoping this wasnt some sort of animal turd he was placing in my hand!

We took a walk too!

Playing outside is hard work!

So if you look closely there are actually 4 birds in this picture and they circled above our yard the entire time we were outside. They were really cool but made me slighly nervous.

Update

As many of you know, Justin and I have started back down the journey of trying to make Harlan a big brother. I thought about posting updates about how that is going here because I dont really want to plaster it all over facebook but I dont mind sharing with the people that are interested and want to know where we stand.

We are currently in our 3rd medicated cycle. I had a ultrasound Thursday morning that showed that the medication that I took earlier this month was able to produce 2 good size follicles (what releases the egg to be fertilized.) Dr Jarrett's nurse called me later that day to confirm that we were ready to move ahead. So I gave myself a shot Thursday night, Justin and I have some work to do, and then we will find out if it worked in roughly 2 weeks. We are both super optimistic about this cycle and both have a feeling that this just might be "the cycle".

I will try my best to keep this blog updated, so that we can share this with all who are special in our lives. Those of you that know me best know that I am not the kind to keep quiet about things, so hopefully there will be good news to share soon.

The Zoo 7-25-10

So its been awhile. What can I say, life with a 2 year old in pretty non-stop...but since we are all worn out and being lazy after a day in the humidity, I am taking the time to share this pictures from our trip to the zoo today. We met Mommy's cousin BC and his girlfriend Kathy there and Aunt Libby went with us. It was soooo much fun!
