Can't keep him down

Harlan is still kinda under the weather. He seems to feel the worst in the evening. Last night he had a low grade temp of 100.3 but a little dose of tylenol and he seemed much better. Today he has been even better, if not a little clingy to Mommy. Harlan even slept in to 10 am and then took a longer than usual nap this afternoon.
SSHHH!!! Sick baby sleeping and getting better.

"This squash is so yummy"

"This is my 'That's not very funny' face"

"I am so funny, even I am laughing"

"Mommy didn't you learn anything??" (After drying out my phone now is fully functional again!"

"I'm gonna get that camera!"

"Look at me go!" He still isn't moving but not for lack of trying.

"this is too cool"

The Destroyer

So it all started with a phone call from Daddy. When Daddy calls us from work, Mommy puts him on speaker phone so Harlan can hear him. Usually Harlan will talk back to Daddy, or squeal and squirm all around. This call seemed to start off with the same pattern of events.
"Hey Daddy, how is work going today?"

Well apparently, Harlan then decided that Daddy was stuck in the phone and had to free him. The best way to get him out?? With his mouth of course. Harlan grabbed the phone and shoved it in his mouth. What does Mommy do? Take pictures of course! See the evidence below ~

'Hang in there Daddy, I will get you outta there!"

Now this may be slightly entertaining to everyone reading this BUT it was not so innocent of a rescue after all. First of all, Mommy can no longer hear her phone ring. That's right, it seems that slobber and spit are not good things to soak a cell phone in. (So if you call me, and I dont answer, dont take it personally. More than likely, its not because I didnt want to talk to you, it is because I cant hear the phone ring) Oh and did I mention that I also can barely hear the person on the other end as well?? It sounds like the person is very muffled and under a bunch of pillows. Luckily I can put the call on speaker phone and hear but it will sure make it hard to keep any call personal, esp in public. So the moral of the story?? Umm don't let your baby slobber all over your cell phone.

It's hard to blame the little guy though. Harlan felt kinda under the weather today, which meant some nice snuggle time for Harlan and Mommy. He had a low grade fever but after a dose of tylenol and a nap he seemed to feel much better. Mommy even turned the hot water on in the shower and sat in the bathroom with Harlan to help him breathe a little easier. When he woke up, he seemed like a happier baby. Here are some good pics from today (luckily there was no slobber attack on my camera)
"Look Mommy, I helped clean up after my carrots"

I know who taught him this one. He has a certain aunt (about 11 yrs old) that used to stick wet wipes in her mouth when she was little. Looks like it might run in the family.

Where's Harlan???????

There he is!!!

Haunted Happenings

Last night was Harlan's first (well really technically second, cause I was preggo with him last year) Haunted Happenings. It was alot of fun. There was weiner roasting, a haunted trail, and a haunted hay ride. Harlan went on the haunted trail strapped to Mommy in his carrier. He fell asleep all bundled up and even slept through the chainsaw! It was really a great time!

"Mommy, I think there is too much stuff in this stroller with me!"

"Gigi, you are gonna roast me a hot dog right??"

Sorry Harlan you are related to these scary people. That's Mommy's cousin BC, Aunt Libby and cousin Cayti.

Aunt Libby, being a teenager

"wow, its nice and toasty in here!"

Tired baby, but too much excitement too sleep

Yesterday, we also noticed Harlan blowing raspberries for the first time. He really has to try at it and gets spit EVERYWHERE, but it is darn cute.

Harlan was a little stuffy before and the cold must have aggravated it last night. this morning Harlan has a runny nose and sounds congested. Guess we are reintroducing him to the big blue meanie!

Bathtime Fun!!!!!!!!!

Bath time was soooo much fun tonight and we wanted to share it will all of you!! "Haven't we had this talk before?? This thing needs water Mommy!" Harlan watching the ducky tub fill with water. Look at those chubster arms!! "Is the water ready yet Mommy?" "Bath time is sooo much fun!!" "Dont I look adorable splashing around in the tub?"

Kisses

Harlan LOVES kisses!!!! and now, Harlan GIVES kisses. He opens his mouth and then puts it up to your lips or cheeks and rubs his slobber all over you. It is the greatest kiss you will ever get. If Mommy if giving Harlan kisses, he gives her kisses back. Then today he grabbed ahold of my cheeks with his chubby lil hands and pulled my face to him, and gave me a kiss on the cheek, tongue and all. oh yes you must be careful, Harlan is known to slip an unsuspecting cheek the tongue every now and then! So if you are lucky enough to get a big blob of slobber on your cheek the next time you see the little booger, be thankful, you just got the sweetest kiss you will ever get!

Harlan also has some exciting news but he wants to show you himself!! Take a PEEK!!!

That's right!! Harlan can sit up unassisted. He needs help kinda finding his balance but then he is golden for a good 15-30 secs. I am so proud of the little guy!

Here is the lil cutie snoozing in our bed!

"I love it when Daddy feeds me, he lets me get messy!!!"

"daddy's my buddy, even if the beard is a lil scratchy"

"Mommy, I'm not feeling this right now"

Rock-a-bye

Harlan let Mommy rock him to sleep for a nap the last two days!!! With no struggle at all. In fact, I tried to put him in his swing and he fussed until I got him then he settled down and went to sleep. Just when I think I have this kid figured out.....but I sure ain't complaining

Harlan's First Road Trip

Harlan, Mommy and Daddy took off to Marion, Ill yesterday to visit my dad, stepmom and g-ma. We were hoping to cheer g-ma up since she hasnt been feeling too well lately. Harlan did wonderful in the car. We woke him up at about 6:45, fed him and then let him ride in his pj's. He slept almost the whole way there. It takes about 4.5 hrs to get there. About the last hour we stopped, gave him a bottle, changed his clothes and got back on the road. Harlan then entertained himself by making faces in the mirror at himself. It was pretty funny. He was even making himself laugh.
He pretty much slept the whole way home as well. We got home about 1 am and Daddy fed him again and then he was out for the night. He did a good job, considering his schedule was pretty messed up and he spent a good 10 hours in the car yesterday. He enjoyed seeing family and meeting a couple new family members. He always has smile for everyone he meets!
Here he his with his great grandma Little. Harlan just had all kinds of things to say to her and she fed him his afternoon bottle.

Anyone who has ever met my dad knows he is a goofball, and when Harlan is around he turns into a super goofball. Harlan got a kick outta him. They just laughed and laughed over stinky feet. Dad attempted to teach Harlan to crawl but no such luck. Harlan just ended up attacking him. As I remember, I think Dad also got beat up by Liberty a couple years ago. Not as tough as he thinks he is, I guess!

Here is Dad and Pat with Harlan. Pat was trying really hard to get Haraln to finish his bottle, but Dad was just too much of a distraction.

After visiting G-ma we went back to Dad's house to get some pears off his tree. We let Harlan suck on a pear slice, but he did not like it! Then Dad got Harlan on his tractor and we got some good pictures.
"I think I'm ready for my driver's license Mommy."

"Let me go grandpa, I can drive this thing!"

"It's too cold out here for me to smile"

"Hey grandpa, are they about done taking pictures? My butt is cold!"
